South Koreans and their Starcraft

The above picture is not of a concert, but rather it is the grand finals of a Starcraft tournament in South Korea. The South Koreans play Starcraft on an entirely different level than the rest of the world. Starcraft is amazingly huge in Korea, where they have actual professional teams in which they pay gamers (in some cases over 200,000 American dollars a year) to practise Starcraft. These progamers live in fancy houses together and practise Starcraft for over 10 hours a day. They have coaches, managers and tons of fans. In South Korea, the general populace does not hold video games with the same negative connatations they hold here in Canada and the rest of the world. The Koreans watch Starcraft on their televisions and have people commentate the matches, here is a particularily funny video of Korean commentators being overly excited over a spell known as "plague."
